About Court Watch
The mission of San Juan County Court Watch is to promote an effective and responsive criminal justice system while creating a more informed and involved public.
Court monitoring is the process of regular citizens volunteering thier time to attend court hearings and cases to gather information. The information they gather includes the type of charges, the outcome of the hearing, and other details. The information is compiled along with research to create a more informed community.
San Juan County Court Watch program will conduct monitoring at the magistrate and district court levels. Our court monitors will gather information to analyze and address any issues, patterns, or trends concerning habitual crime, high profile cases, and any other type of crime or cases impacting residents of San Juan County.
Through local partnerships with our courts and community leaders, we will be able to utilize our gathered information for the good of our community and to improve the judicial process. Court Watch is part of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office Volunteers in Partnership (V.I.P) program and is funded through donations from businesses and citizens in our community.
